Weekly Homework
The following is a basic outline of our second grade homework. Any changes will be noted in your child's planner. If you have any questions about your child's homework, do not hesitate to send an email or write a note in the planner. Please remember that the diocesan policy for homework states that your second grade student should spend about 20 minutes each night on homework. If your child is spending a great deal less or more time on homework, please let me know. Thank you for supporting your child as s/he continues to develop independence in completing the practice assignments below!
Monday
Read with a family member
Sort new words from weekly study list into spelling categories
Practice spelling patterns
Math practice sheet
Tuesday
Read with a family member
Write words in categories using red for consonants and blue for vowels
Math practice sheet
Wednesday
Read with a family member
Write two spelling words from each category in interesting sentences
Study math binder with a family member (practice new topics; review topics from previous weeks; practice math facts with flash cards and games)
Thursday
Read with a family member
Study for spelling test on Friday
Math practice sheet
Friday
Choose "just right" books from public library or home library
Read to self and/or with a family member
Practice math facts with flash cards and games
